A Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicles has been set up in the Electrical Engineering Department of Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya (BVM), Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, following a Memorandum of Understanding between BVM and SkyySkill Academy Pvt. Ltd. to train faculty and students in Electric Vehicles and Renewable Energy.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Himanshu Panda, CEO, SkyySkill Academy; Er. Bhikhubhai Patel, Chairman, Charutar Vidya Mandal; Dr. Indrajit Patel, Principal, BVM; Dr. Rashesh Mehta, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, BVM; and members of the BVM Board of Governors.
The EV Centre of Excellence was funded through a donation from Mr. Snehal Shah, a BVM alumnus (Electrical Engineering, Class of 1991). SkyySkill Academy supplied the lab equipment, including [e.g. EV drivetrain trainer, battery pack testing station, BMS trainer]. The full setup is described on the EV lab at Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya page.
The centre will run courses certified by the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), along with workshops, training programmes and joint industry-academia projects in EV and renewable energy technology. Faculty and students will also use the facility for research and development work. 100+ students and 20+ faculty members are expected to train at the centre each year.
For engineering students in Gujarat, the CoE offers hands-on practice with EV systems and a recognised ASDC certification. These are the skills employers look for when hiring for EV design, testing, servicing and battery technology roles.
