Drone assembly and flight training for engineering students now runs at ARNI University, Himachal Pradesh, whose drone lab for unmanned aerial systems was completed in September 2026.
The lab covers drone assembly, flight controllers, GPS and sensor modules, remote piloting and simulation software. Simulation software lets students rehearse take-off, navigation and emergency handling before they fly real hardware, which limits crash damage and builds pilot confidence.
SkyySkill Labs supplied the equipment, installation, structured training, faculty support and ongoing technical guidance, so the university received a working teaching facility rather than a set of kits.
Students build and configure drones, set up flight controllers and GPS and sensor modules, and practise remote piloting on the simulator before live flights, while learning DGCA drone guidelines and RPAS operations. Project work covers aerial surveying, mapping, agriculture monitoring and inspection, which lead to roles such as drone pilot, drone assembly technician and survey operator.
In Himachal Pradesh's hill terrain, drones are a practical way to survey slopes, inspect roads and power lines on difficult ground and monitor orchards and farmland, which gives the lab's mapping and agriculture projects an immediate local application.
