Nearly 300 students have enrolled in the EV Skill Lab domain at BMS College of Engineering in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where the EV skill lab was completed in September 2026.
Students train on battery management systems, EV powertrains and motors, battery testing equipment, EV charging infrastructure, vehicle electrical systems, testing tools and EV simulators, giving them coverage of the full vehicle from battery pack to charger.
The lab runs under an MoU between BMS College of Engineering, SkyySkill Labs and SkyySkill Academy. Dedicated trainers deliver a six-month EV skill development programme, followed by placement support.
Trainees configure and test battery management systems, run battery tests, study powertrain and motor behaviour, work on charging infrastructure and electrical systems, and practise on the EV simulators. Simulator sessions let students rehearse drive behaviour and fault scenarios before they handle live high-voltage hardware.
Beyond scheduled training, the lab gives faculty and students a working platform for projects, research and industry consultancy on applied electric mobility problems. In Bengaluru, with its cluster of electric two-wheeler, battery and charging companies, that combination of a structured programme and placement support gives engineering students a direct route into EV design, testing and service roles.
