EV Lab Setup at ARNI University, Himachal Pradesh

Himachal PradeshCompleted EV Lab
EV lab installed at ARNI University, Himachal Pradesh

Alongside its drone and solar facilities, ARNI University in Himachal Pradesh completed an EV lab in September 2026 that trains engineering students across the electric vehicle powertrain, from battery pack to motor.

Students work with BLDC and PMSM motors, battery packs with battery management systems (BMS), motor controllers, DC-DC converters, EV charging systems and wiring harnesses, supported by training in EV architecture, power electronics and diagnostics.

BLDC motors dominate electric two-wheelers, while PMSM motors are common in cars, so having both lets students see why designers pick one over the other for efficiency, cost and control. The DC-DC converter steps the traction battery down to the low-voltage supply that runs lights, displays and controllers.

Trainees compare BLDC and PMSM motor behaviour, configure BMS parameters, test motor controllers and DC-DC converters, trace wiring harness faults and run charging tests. The lab also supports experiments, student projects, research and innovation, preparing students for EV design, testing and service roles.

The EV lab sits next to the drone and solar labs installed at the same time, giving the university a shared base for work on batteries, motors and power electronics across all three.
