Central Tool Room & Training Centre (MSME), Government of India, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha inaugurated a solar lab in March 2026 to give students at the government training centre hands-on training in solar technologies.
The lab gives trainees practical exposure to how a solar power system works from end to end: how panels convert sunlight into electricity, how that power is controlled and converted, and how it is delivered to a load or stored.
Hands-on work covers safe installation, correct wiring, and testing a system's output to confirm that it is performing as designed. Fault-finding on a working system teaches trainees what to check when output drops.
These skills point to renewable energy roles such as solar PV installer and solar O&M technician, and complement the manufacturing and tooling skills a central tool room is built to teach.
For students in Bhubaneswar, the solar lab adds a renewable energy option to their training as solar installations spread across homes, institutions and industry in Odisha.
