Bharati Vidyapeeth in Delhi added an EV lab in October 2024 that gives engineering students practical exposure to EV technology, drivetrain systems and battery engineering.
The lab includes 4-wheeler and 2-wheeler drivetrain models, a Li-ion battery pack manufacturing kit with BMS, battery testing equipment and charging systems. Together these cover the drivetrain, battery manufacturing and charging stages of an electric vehicle.
Charge-discharge analysis is the core test for any lithium-ion pack: cycling it under controlled current shows usable capacity, internal resistance and how evenly the cells age. Doing this on a pack the students have assembled themselves makes the link between build quality and performance concrete.
Students study component integration and wiring on the drivetrain models, troubleshoot faults, examine regenerative systems, assemble Li-ion packs with a BMS and run charge-discharge cycles on the testing equipment. The lab also supports embedded and IoT-based EV project development, relevant to roles in EV design, battery engineering and testing.
For an engineering campus in the capital, it gives students a place to take an EV idea from wiring diagram to working, tested hardware.
