Edunet Foundation collaborated on the EV lab at Government ITI Ambattur in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, completed in May 2026 to give trainees hands-on practice in electric mobility technologies.
The lab focuses on EV systems, diagnostics and maintenance, the three areas that make up most day-to-day work on an electric vehicle once it is on the road.
Trainees use the lab to study EV systems, run diagnostic checks and carry out maintenance procedures, preparing them for roles such as EV service technician and EV maintenance technician. Understanding the system comes first, because an electric vehicle's battery, controller and motor depend on one another, and a fault in one often appears as a symptom in another.
Ambattur is home to one of Chennai's largest industrial estates, and the city is a major automotive manufacturing centre with a growing electric two-wheeler and component base. Government ITI trainees with practical diagnostic and maintenance skills are well placed for service, assembly and quality roles across that network.
