Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (Autonomous) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh completed its Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence (EV CoE), an EV lab for its students, in July 2026.
The CoE covers battery management systems, electric powertrains and charging infrastructure. These three areas form the core of any electric vehicle: the battery management system protects and balances the cells, the powertrain turns stored energy into motion, and the charging infrastructure returns energy to the pack.
Following the setup, a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) trained faculty in EV technologies, battery management systems, electric powertrains and charging infrastructure so they can deliver hands-on, industry-aligned teaching.
Students use the CoE to study how battery management, powertrain and charging systems interact, building the practical base for roles in EV design, testing and service. Faculty trained in the FDP can lead these sessions in-house.
Pairing the facility with faculty training means the college can run EV practicals and student projects with its own staff from the start, an important point for an autonomous engineering college in Visakhapatnam building electric mobility into its teaching.
