Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh completed an Electric Vehicle Skill Lab in June 2026, an EV lab built for hands-on training in EV technology.
The lab covers battery management systems, electric powertrains, motor control and charging infrastructure, the four subsystems that define how an electric vehicle stores, uses and replenishes energy.
Battery management work shows how a BMS monitors cell voltages and temperatures, balances cells and cuts off the pack when limits are crossed. Powertrain and motor control sessions cover how a controller converts battery power into regulated torque and speed, and how regenerative braking returns energy to the pack. Charging infrastructure training explains the difference between AC and DC charging and how a charger and vehicle communicate before power flows.
Together these build skills for roles in the electric mobility sector such as EV design engineer, battery systems engineer and charging infrastructure engineer.
For a university that draws students from across Andhra Pradesh, the lab gives engineering and science students practical exposure to a field where hands-on experience is a key hiring criterion.
