MANIT Bhopal, the National Institute of Technology in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, completed an EV lab in December 2025 that serves engineering students as an Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence.
The Centre of Excellence covers EV technology, battery systems, motor control and vehicle electronics. Together these make up the powertrain and control layers that engineers specify, test and refine when an electric vehicle is developed.
Students study battery systems, motor control strategies and vehicle electronics through hands-on work rather than theory alone. Battery work looks at how cell behaviour, state of charge and temperature limits shape pack design. Motor control covers how a controller regulates torque and speed and recovers energy during braking. Vehicle electronics ties these together through the sensors, controllers and communication links that let subsystems exchange data.
These skills are relevant to roles such as EV powertrain engineer, battery systems engineer and automotive electronics engineer, as well as research and final-year projects in electric mobility.
For a national institute serving students from across the country, the centre gives undergraduate and postgraduate engineers a place to move from simulation and coursework to working with EV systems directly.
