PMC Tech, an engineering college in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, completed its EV Training and Simulation Lab in September 2025, giving students hands-on work on electric vehicle systems, drivetrains and batteries.
The lab includes a 4-wheeler EV simulator with IoT-enabled remote operation, a complete 2-wheeler EV training setup with motor and smart controller, and a Li-ion battery manufacturing DIY kit with BMS. Cut-section models of a BLDC motor, hub motor, controller and EV charger show the internal construction and working principle of each component.
Students operate the EV drivetrain on the 2-wheeler setup, assemble battery packs with the DIY kit and BMS, run system diagnostics, and control the 4-wheeler simulator remotely over IoT. These tasks build skills for roles such as EV service engineer, battery assembly technician and EV systems trainee.
The battery kit is where students see how a BMS balances cells and cuts off a pack under unsafe conditions, while the IoT-linked simulator introduces the connected-vehicle data that fleet operators and manufacturers now work with daily.
Hosur sits in one of Tamil Nadu's busiest automotive manufacturing belts, with two-wheeler and electric vehicle production close to the campus. Graduates who have built a pack and run a BLDC drivetrain arrive at those plants already familiar with the hardware on the line.
