Royal Global University in Guwahati, Assam completed its EV Training and Battery Technology Lab in November 2024 for practical training in EV systems, drivetrain electronics and battery engineering.
The lab includes a 4-wheeler transmission electronics training model with an IoT-enabled test rig, a 4-wheeler electric buggy simulator, a spot welding machine, a battery tester, a Li-ion battery DIY kit with BMS, lithium-ion batteries and chargers, and EV wiring harness modules. Cut-section models of a BLDC motor, hub motor, controller, DC-DC converter and EV charger, along with EV powertrain wall charts, show how each component is built.
Spot welding is how cells are joined into packs in production, because it bonds the nickel strip without overheating the cell. Pairing the welder with the DIY kit and BMS lets students build a working pack, then check capacity and balance on the battery tester.
Students train on full vehicle systems using the electric buggy simulator, test drivetrain electronics on the IoT rig, assemble and spot-weld battery packs, and trace faults on the wiring harness modules. These tasks prepare them for roles such as EV service engineer and battery assembly and testing technician.
For a university in the Northeast, the lab puts hands-on electric mobility training on a Guwahati campus, within reach of students from across the region.
