Amara Raja Batteries Limited inaugurated an Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence (EV CoE) at the Skill Development Centre (SDC) in Mahabubnagar, Telangana in August 2025, giving this corporate skilling centre a dedicated EV lab.
The CoE is organised around four areas: EV battery technology, powertrain systems, charging infrastructure and green mobility solutions. Battery technology sits naturally at the centre of that list, given Amara Raja's background as a battery manufacturer.
Amara Raja Batteries Limited is the collaborating partner, with SkyySkill Labs delivering the setup. The centre is intended for skill development, research and training in electric mobility.
Trainees work through EV battery technology, powertrain systems and charging infrastructure, building the base for roles such as EV battery technician, powertrain service technician and charging station technician. Covering all three areas matters because faults in an electric vehicle rarely stay inside one system: a charging complaint can trace back to the battery's management electronics, and a loss of drive power can begin at the pack.
Placing the CoE at a skill development centre rather than a college campus gives both fresh trainees and working technicians in the Mahabubnagar region a place to retrain as vehicle fleets in Telangana shift from combustion engines to battery power.
