Trainees at Govt. ITI Borivali in Mumbai, Maharashtra get hands-on training on electric vehicle systems in an EV lab completed at the institute in February 2025.
Training covers EV technology, battery systems, electric powertrains, charging systems and diagnostics, with the focus firmly on practical, industry-ready skills.
Trainees practise battery system checks, powertrain operation, charging procedures and diagnostic routines, preparing them for roles such as EV service technician. Working through these tasks in sequence teaches the habit every EV mechanic needs: confirm the battery first, then the powertrain, then the charging path, and replace a part only once the test points to it.
Mumbai's large network of vehicle dealerships, fleet operators and service workshops handles a growing share of electric scooters, autos, taxis and buses. A government ITI trainee from Borivali who has already worked on battery and charging systems can step into that work with far less on-the-job catch-up.
