SRF Foundation collaborated with Govt. ITI Indapur in Maharashtra on an EV lab, completed in January 2025, that gives the institute's trainees hands-on training on electric vehicles.
Training covers EV technology, electric powertrains, battery systems, charging infrastructure and diagnostics. Together these span the full path of energy in an electric vehicle, from the charger into the battery and out through the powertrain to the wheels.
Trainees practise powertrain operation, battery system checks, charging procedures and diagnostics. Diagnostics ties the other topics together: a technician who understands each stage can tell whether a range or power complaint starts at the charger, the battery or the motor.
These skills prepare trainees for roles such as EV service technician and charging station technician. For a government ITI in Indapur, the lab brings electric vehicle training to a rural part of Pune district, so local trainees can enter the electric mobility trade without leaving the region first.
