Alongside the signing of an MoU to promote industry-oriented EV education, Government Polytechnic, Angul (GP Angul) in Odisha completed a dedicated EV lab in November 2025.
The MoU between the polytechnic and SkyySkill Labs covers EV education and skill development at the institute, giving the lab a longer-term framework beyond installation.
After installation, a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was conducted for college faculty on practical EV technologies, hands-on training and emerging industry trends. Preparing lecturers first means diploma students are taught by staff who have already worked through the practical side of electric vehicles themselves.
Industry-oriented EV education at diploma level centres on the battery pack, the motor and controller, charging systems and the safety practices around high-voltage parts. These are the areas a polytechnic graduate meets first in an EV service workshop or on an assembly line.
Angul is one of Odisha's major industrial districts, and the shift towards electric mobility is adding new kinds of technical work alongside its established heavy industry. The lab gives GP Angul students an early start in that field.
