Government Polytechnic, Koraput in Odisha completed an EV lab in November 2024, giving students and faculty a dedicated space for practical electric vehicle training.
Sessions in the lab cover EV technology, battery systems, electric powertrains, charging systems and diagnostics, with hands-on training running for students and faculty since the lab was handed over.
Students practise battery inspection, powertrain operation, charging procedures and fault diagnosis. Each task mirrors a step in real service work: inspecting a battery for health and safe connections, confirming that the motor and controller respond correctly, checking that a vehicle charges as it should, and isolating the cause when it does not.
These skills lead towards roles such as EV service technician and battery technician. For a government polytechnic in southern Odisha, the lab brings practical electric vehicle training to students in the district, and it gives faculty the hands-on grounding to teach the subject with confidence.
