Delivered with 1M1B Foundation and completed in January 2026, the EV and solar lab at VTU PG in Karnataka gives learners hands-on training in electric mobility and solar power generation.
The lab brings together EV training systems, battery and charging modules, solar PV components and safety infrastructure. The battery modules are the link between the two halves: the same lithium-ion storage that powers an electric vehicle also holds the energy a solar array produces.
Trainees practise EV diagnostics, battery management system configuration and charging technology, then move to solar power generation and system integration exercises that connect the EV and solar sides of the lab. Understanding how a BMS protects cells during charging carries straight over to designing a battery-backed solar installation. These tasks lead towards roles such as EV service technician, battery technician and solar PV installer.
With electric mobility and rooftop solar both expanding across Karnataka, a single facility that teaches the overlap between charging, storage and generation prepares learners for employers working on either side.
