Clean energy careers are the target of the EV and solar lab at Govt. ITI Hunsur, Karnataka, completed in March 2026 in association with TNS Foundation to give trainees hands-on EV and solar training.
The lab combines electric vehicle and solar training in one space. On the EV side, trainees work through how a battery, controller and motor are connected and maintained; on the solar side, how panels and inverters are connected and how a system's output is checked.
TNS Foundation supported the project, bringing practical clean energy training to a government ITI outside the larger city centres.
Hands-on practice in both technologies prepares trainees for roles such as EV service technician, solar PV installer and solar maintenance technician. Because the two fields share skills in electrical safety, DC wiring and battery handling, practice in one strengthens the other.
For trainees in Hunsur, the lab offers a local route into clean energy work in Karnataka without having to travel to a metro to gain practical experience.
