Engineering students at Adani University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat now get practical training in electric mobility and renewable energy technologies at a combined EV and solar lab completed in September 2026.
On the EV side, the lab supports practical work on EV motors, controllers, battery systems and vehicle performance testing. On the solar side it covers solar PV systems, inverters, energy storage and power electronics.
Housing both technologies in one facility reflects how closely the two fields now overlap. Battery storage, inverters and DC power conversion appear in solar plants and electric vehicles alike, so a student who understands one system is well placed to work on the other.
Students test motor and controller behaviour, assess battery system performance, run vehicle performance tests, and wire and commission solar PV systems with inverters and energy storage. Power electronics links both halves of the lab. These tasks match entry roles in EV testing, battery engineering and solar system design.
Gujarat is expanding both large-scale solar generation and electric vehicle manufacturing, and the lab gives Ahmedabad engineering students hands-on grounding in each before they enter either industry.
