At Govt. ITI Belagavi in Karnataka, an EV and solar lab completed in April 2026 in collaboration with TNS Foundation gives trainees practical exposure to electric vehicles and solar energy.
The lab uses live demonstration models and training tools covering EV architecture, battery systems, solar panel integration and energy optimisation. Demonstration models make the layout of an electric vehicle visible: where the battery sits, how power reaches the motor, and which parts the controller manages.
Trainees trace EV architecture and battery systems on the demonstration models and practise solar panel integration and energy optimisation. Energy optimisation is where the two subjects meet, since getting the most out of a solar array and stretching the range of an EV both come down to managing how batteries are charged and drawn down.
These skills lead towards roles such as EV technician and solar PV technician, giving Belagavi trainees a footing in two trades that sit naturally side by side.
