Govt ITI Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh now runs one workshop for electric mobility and solar energy: an EV and solar lab for trainees, completed in September 2026.
On the EV side, trainees work with EV motors, battery management systems (BMS), charging infrastructure and EV powertrains. The solar section includes solar panels, inverters, MPPT charge controllers and battery storage systems, set up for both grid-connected and off-grid applications.
SkyySkill Labs delivered the equipment, installation, structured hands-on training, faculty development and ongoing technical support, positioning the institute as a Centre of Excellence for EV and solar skills.
Trainees practise vehicle assembly, testing and troubleshooting on the EV motors, BMS and powertrain, and wire solar panels through MPPT charge controllers and inverters to battery storage. The grid-connected setup mirrors rooftop systems feeding a building's supply, while the off-grid setup shows how a standalone system runs on stored energy. These tasks prepare them for roles such as EV technician, solar PV installer and solar O&M technician.
With faculty development included in the handover, instructors at Gajuwaka can run both halves of the lab and keep the training current as the equipment and industry practice evolve.
