Two labs, an EV Lab and a Solar Energy Lab, were completed at Government ITI College, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh in March 2026, together forming its EV and solar training facility.

The EV Lab focuses on electric mobility and the Solar Energy Lab on renewable energy, with hands-on, industry-relevant training in both. Keeping the two subjects in separate rooms lets each lab run its own practical sessions, while trainees still see how the fields connect.

Both labs were set up in collaboration with TNS Foundation, adding CSR support to practical training at the government ITI.

Trainees move between the two labs to see how electric vehicles draw on stored energy and how solar systems generate it. On the vehicle side, the emphasis is on how batteries, controllers and motors work together and how they are serviced safely; on the solar side, it is on how solar power is generated, controlled and delivered to a load. The training is aimed at employability in roles such as EV service technician and solar PV installation technician.

Tirupati trainees who complete both strands leave with a skill set that applies to vehicle workshops, charging infrastructure and solar installation work alike.
