Electric mobility and renewable energy skills are taught side by side at Government ITI Hubli in Hubballi, Karnataka, in an EV and solar lab completed in April 2026 in association with TNS Foundation.
The lab has live working models and hands-on modules covering EV systems, battery management, solar panel installation and energy optimisation. Working models let trainees measure voltages and currents on a system that is actually running, which is how faults are found in the field.
Trainees study EV systems and battery management on the live working models and practise solar panel installation, from mounting and orientation to wiring the array. Battery management connects both halves of the course, since a solar installation with storage and an electric vehicle depend on the same principles of safe charging and discharge.
The training builds towards roles such as EV technician and solar PV installer, two jobs that increasingly overlap as homes and businesses add rooftop solar and electric vehicles together.
